"Comfortable experience"
Apr 14, 2010

I have stayed at the Foreigners Club Hotel a number of times over the past several years and find it to be a comfortable and affordable place to stay. The staff has always been very helpful and often will accompany my friends and I on day trips to the beach, night clubs and shopping. They have always looked out for their guest. I find the location convenient to places that I go most often when I'm in Santo Domingo. The Hotel is also a place where you can easily meet other travelers from around the world. I will be staying there again on my next trip.

"Better Than Expected!"

I stayed at the Foreigners Hotel Club due to a last minute referral. And thank God it went that way! While my previous accommodations charged a mere 15$ p/n (FCH asked for 50$), I could not beat what they offered (free WiFi, Balcony, Refrigerator).

It's the best place to stay if you're interested in a budget room.

"Feeling welcome"

Not a 5star hotel, but a super clean budget hotel, with the friendliest, most accommodating, most helpful staff in town!! Located right in the middle of everything to see (Parque Independencia/Zona Colonial/Malecon), yet just a couple of short blocks away from the main tourist traps. Easy walking distance to all historical sites, shopping and nightlife. I will always come back to stay here when in town.

"The feel of a guest house"
Apr 13, 2010

While technically the Foreigner's Club is a hotel, the atmosphere is more inline with a traditional guest house or B&B. This is because the building itself is boutique. In addition, a guest really can get to know the staff and other guests well. The hotel has an intimate lobby where people could (and often did) chat with each other and share photos/stories of their travels. The staff makes a concerted effort to know their guests and offers suggestions from places to eat, ways to handle pushy shoeshine boys on the Conde, or warnings about local trouble-makers. The staff also are well-connected in the community and can provide a wide gambit of recommendations if the guests merely ask. The hotel is without pretense and simple in accommodation. The hot water in the bathrooms take a minute to warm up but otherwise all functions well. <br>I would not recommend this hotel to someone seeking a Michelin rating. However, if you are seeking a low-key, unfussy, hotel where you can make friends and simply relax all for a very reasonable price, then give the Foreigner's Club a try.

"Small boutique hotel scores big on friendliness and ambiance"

Hello,
Let me tell you guys. I made a great choice by picking this hotel. This being my first time in sto. domingo, i arranged for them to pick me up at the airport (about $35 USD). At first, i wasn't that thrilled, but i decided to give it try. I am glad i did! My room had all the amenities i wanted, A/C, small fridge, comfy bed, hot water and clean bathroom. But that fell short compared to the staff there. They were superb! they really make the place.

They make you feel at ease and relaxed. We would all hang out at the lobby, drink a couple of beers, smoke some, and then we would go to where the night might take us.

All and all, my stay was great here. I have stayed at larger hotels, but their cold and antiseptic style left me feeling alone, bored, and wanting to know more of what it is like to live like one of the locals.

"Great location, value, staff, and service"
Jan 14, 2010

I am staying at the Foreigners Club Hotel for a week so far (Jan 2010) and i absolutely love it! The location is great. The staff (Juan/John) could not be any more helpful and fun to be around. The guest house is very gay-friendly. You can even ask John to introduce you to some of his friends.
The rooms are clean, hot water, air conditioners, fans, clean linens and towels. There is a kitchen you can use at your pleasure. It was kinda difficult to find info on this place online as it has changed names and owners many times. But i am glad I did. The room rates are hard to beat and it is OK to bring your guests to your room. To keep the place safe, they lock the front doors at all times and all guests must leave their IDs at the front desk. Enjoy!
